Fashion Incubator SF Hosts Panel of Fashion Journalists

Earlier this week, the Fashion Incubator SF (FiSF), in partnership with the Academy of Art University's School of Fashion, hosted a panel of fashion journalists onsite to discuss #fashionjournalism.  Some interesting insights from the discussion for fashion designers:  many younger people consider Instagram and Pinterest to be the main fashion media outlets; getting press coverage from more traditional press is easier if there's an exclusive, a celebrity connection, measurable traction or other statistics and specific timelines are always incredibly helpful; SF Magazine LOVES covering emerging fashion designers; and one of the reasons that fashion as an industry hasn't been as disrupted by technology is the fact that fashion is, at it's heart, about creating beauty - although there was a plea for technologists to develop the AR/VR capabilities to experience fashion photo shoots and ad campaigns!

If you're an emerging fashion designer looking to get advice, education, community and connections, consider applying for the Fashion Incubator SF's program, a nonprofit committed to supporting fashion designers in scaling their businesses:  fashionincubatorsf.org

Panelists:  Stephan Rabimov, Director of the Social Media Center & Fashion Journalism at the Academy of Art University's School of Fashion (moderator); Erin Feher, Style and Design Editor, San Francisco Magazine; and Maghan McDowell, Journalist with a focus on fashion and tech.
